A Guide to Aligning with Your Full Moon

The Full Moon is a lunar phase that occurs when the Moon and Sun are opposite each other. It is a period of crescendo and illumination of your inner landscape, and occurs every 28 days, or a monthly cycle. Noting your Full Moon, like any lunar ritual, uses carefully selected intentions to expose what your intuition wants to surface, let go of, and release.

The Moon is the most personal embodiment of the rhythm of time, and force that impacts environmental forces from the tides to our emotions. It is also a feminine symbol and a metaphor for the cycles of womanhood.

These endings may be related to what was put in place or started at the previous New Moon in the same zodiac sign approximately six months prior.

Feel

During this phase, the sun illuminates the entire moon. Things can appear more frantic or as if you’re out of time. It is an opportunity for completion, abundance, and transformation.

To access the peak lunar qualities of emotions and instincts, start with a walk or any activity you do that quiets your mind and lets you hear your own simmering thoughts. Ask yourself, “What am I struggling with at the moment? What responses am I having?” Let those emotions guide your choices. Besides physical activity, you might also listen to different music, a few blades of grass, a branch or a twig.

Filter

The Full Moon emphasises opposing polarities and forces in your life, based on which pair of signs it falls in. It is also a time of harvest, or reaping what you have sown, so listen closely to what you intuitively want to shed, let go of, and release.

Now you have gathered your feelings, it’s time to start putting things together. Use guiding questions that have helped you “come to terms with”; these could be: "What do you want to achieve? What will be the purpose of your full moon ritual? – this process can be challenging, but it’s important to take time to filter.

Remember that rituals do not need to be dramatic. A single point of clarity is sometimes all that is needed to note your Full Moon.
