From The Age Of Pisces To The Age of Aquarius: Your Guide To The Planet’s Evolutionary Cycles

The Age of Pisces has shaped human history for around 2000 years, and is slowly coming to an end, as the Age of Aquarius takes its turn. It’s hard to fix an exact date or year, and Age of Pisces is said to run runs from roughly 50 BCE to 2100 so we’re currently in the transition between ages.

What is certain, is that the transition between these two astrological ages has already started, and one of its biggest aspects is the battle between science and religion that has marked the development of human society for the past centuries.

In a state of chaos and confusion, we feel a great urge for the New Age to begin as soon as possible.

But we cannot create a better future until we understand where we’ve been.

What is The Age Of Pisces

Three 72-Year Periods: 1846 to 2062

The Age of Pisces began at the peak of the Roman Empire, which lasted until 476 CE in the ‘West’. Christianity became such a massive influence on the rest of the world largely thanks to Rome adopting it as the official religion

Psychoanalyst Carl Jung [1875 - 1961 AD] called it a 'synchronicity' between the birth of Christ and the start of the Age of Pisces. The fish symbolic is everywhere in the Age of the Fishes, either within the gospels themselves (“fishers of men”, fishermen as the first disciples, miracle of loaves and fishes) or immediately afterwards in the post-apostolic era.

The Age of Pisces essentially hinged on the rise of a worldwide religion centering primarily on symbols of water: baptism, walking on water, changing water into wine, etc.

To further appreciate how far we are coming from, let’s look back to the preceding Age, that of Aries – the individualistic, competitive, courageous, pioneer, and warrior archetype. During the Mars-ruled Age of Aries, the Earth saw the rise and fall of history's greatest empires, advancements in military tools and technology, and the ascension of monotheistic religions.

How did the archetype of Pisces has manifested in reality in this age? The energy of Pisces brought to life the notions of forgiveness, empathy, innocence, love and devotion. It established the believe in a higher force and the search for the connection to something greater than the self.

Yet, in the search for transcendence, people lost sense of reality. What reigned in stead were self destruction, drug abuse, alcoholism or any other addiction focused on escapism. Religious fanaticism and intolerance gained force. Guilt and suffering became just the other side of the coin from spirituality.

The Age of Aquarius - What does it look like?

The Age of Aquarius is waiting in the wings and new archetypes are rising as the old gods fade.

thirst for change and the longing for a better future. Ruler of the collective, Aquarius speaks of humanitarian ideals, cooperation and brotherhood.

Aquarius also rules realms of the search and sharing of truth and information and the fight for personal and intellectual freedom.

The dark side of this reveals the potential for disorder, rebellion, breaking of rules, and “change for the sake of change”. To the degree that progressive thinking (the “woke culture”) lost touch with reality, the countercurrent of conservatism has brought discrimination and religious fanactism.

Technology has also wreaked negative havoc in the world we live in, to the degree it has taken over aspects of our lives.

When we take the perspective of comparison, i.e., the Age Of Aquarius vs. The Age Of Pisces, the contrast can cause some tears as it feels already evident what is at risk to darker forces: we risk losing soul, traditions, gentleness, in exchange for a Faustian bargain of collectivistic rights. The way through the birthing pains is to reap our lessons from Pisces: transcendental era of awakening, honouring sacred duality, empowering feminine rulers, and remembering our connection to the divine.
